23 novembre Happy Thanksgiving!I hope you are all having a great Thanksgiving. My part in preparation today was the pies. I made a Decadent Triple Layer Mud Pie as recommended by Weeding the Garden at The Cooking Cabal. I also made a Double Layer Pumpkin Pie as recommended by Leesa. They aren't much to look at all covered in Cool Whip. I made everything including the graham cracker crust for the pumpkin pie and Oreo cookie crust for the chocolate pie. I'll let you know what everyone thinks. Happy Thanksgiving! 20 novembre Bear Lunch BoxLiving in the woods means you share it with many woodland creatures. This happens to include a couple of bears. They've been pretty mischievous. I blogged last year about how they got in to the chicken feed. They did it again this year. Apparently a chicken feed snack isn't enough. A few weeks ago the bear took 2 of our trash cans where we had them set out for trash day. One I was able to find. Just followed the garbage trail. The other was nowhere to be found. My neighbor found it this weekend and returned it. Apparently he wondered why use the lid when he could just tear through the side. I wonder how many more lunch boxes I'm going to need to buy for this bear. The least they could do would be to return it when they're done. 13 novembre Happy Birthday10 novembre Happy Veteran's DayTo all those that honorably serve and have served in our military, thank you. 08 novembre High and DryI know Sultan has been in the national news lately with our floods. My house is high and dry. We're probably close to 60 feet above the river. No real chance of mud slides either. We do get trapped up here on occasion though as the river floods around both sides of the road below us. I took a few photo's on my way to work yesterday. Note the house with the vinyl car cover next to it. That house is on 6 foot stilts on the side of the river. Today it was in the middle of the river. Normally there is a car parked in front of it. The other shot is of another house just down the road from me. I'm not sure if the house flooded. If not it was within inches. |
